Frequently asked questions
Everything people usually ask us — about the grains, the packs, and getting them to your door.
Are your products really organic?
Yes. Every grain comes from Tamil Nadu farms growing heritage paddy without synthetic fertilisers or pesticides, and every pack lists its real ingredients — grains, dals, whole spices, salt, a trace of coconut oil.
Why do the packs say “store in the fridge”?
Because there are no preservatives. Air-tight in the fridge, an opened pack stays fresh for about three weeks.
What is the shelf life?
Unopened packs are best used within 3 months of the packed date printed on the label. Once opened, refrigerate air-tight and use within 3 weeks.
Are the products vegetarian? Vegan?
Everything is 100% vegetarian (green-dot marked). Most products are vegan; the aval/poha mixes contain pure ghee — check the ingredients line on each pack.
Is heritage rice good for diabetics?
Several of our grains — Karuppu Kavuni, Kaatuyanam, Poongar, Kichli Samba, Mysore Malli — have a lower glycemic index than polished white rice. Please follow your doctor's advice for your own diet.
Do you ship across India?
Yes — free above ₹499, and orders dispatch from Chennai within 1–2 working days. See our shipping and returns page for the full policy.
Can I stock wondr grain in my store?
We’d love that. Write to customer.care@wondrgrain.in with the subject “Wholesale” or call 78100 97277.
How do I track my order?
Sign in to your account and open My orders — every order shows its live status with a tracking link once shipped.
The grains
What makes these rices "heritage"?
They're traditional Tamil Nadu varieties grown from farmer-saved seed for generations — not modern hybrids. Most keep their bran, which means more fibre, minerals and flavour than polished rice.
Are the products really organic?
Yes — our grains are organically grown by partner farms in Tamil Nadu, without chemical fertilisers or pesticides. Every pack lists its real ingredients: grains, dals, whole spices, salt and a trace of coconut oil. Never preservatives, colours or flavourings.
Which products suit someone watching blood sugar?
Kichli Samba, Karuppu Kavuni (Black Kavuni) and Poongar are traditionally noted for a lower glycemic index. As always, please follow your doctor's advice for your own diet.
Cooking
How long does idiyappam really take?
About ten minutes: soak in lukewarm salted water for exactly 5 minutes (4 for Kichli Samba), drain fully, steam 5 minutes, serve.
My idiyappam turned sticky — what went wrong?
Three usual suspects: water too hot, over-soaking past 5 minutes, or skipping the full drain before steaming. Fix those and it comes out springy every time.
Do the dosa mixes need a wet grinder?
No — that's the point. Mix with water, ferment overnight (rava dosa only rests 30 minutes), and pour.
Storage
How should I store the packs?
Air-tight in the fridge. Unopened, best within 3 months of the packed date; once opened, use within 3 weeks. No preservatives means the fridge does the preserving.
Orders
Do you ship across India?
Yes — free shipping on orders above ₹499. Orders are milled and packed fresh each week in Chennai.

UPI, cards, net banking and cash on delivery.
